I have had this reel for 10 years. My nephew and his minions decided to play pirates in my boat and stomped all over my Penn 209 and it still works. This is an excellent Reel. Too bad Berkley cant make a line counter like Penn makes a reel.

Contrary to traditional history this Penn reel fell apart after three weeks of use.

VERY dissatisfied.

Have 2 of these 'new' ones I use every summer for salmon fishing. Does have a slow return at 3.2:1 but can't beat the price and they have lasted for years past newer reels.

As a bonus I have a couple real old ones about 30+ years old, dropped one and the old red backalite cracked, contacted Penn and they sent a side from one of these new ones and it bolted right on.

I'm impressed with the reel after my first use. I bought two for freshwater Striper fishing with downlines. The line counter is accurate with 17 lb test mono. These reels have a bit more plastic than the previous models, but I love the 'retro' look.
