Introducing the world's first monocular laser rangefinder outfitted with an LED display and Ballistic Information System - BIS™. This versatile, compact unit houses a powerful 1,300-yard laser rangefinder teamed with the same BIS found in Zeiss Victory RF binoculars. The 26mm objective lens and 8X magnification deliver bright, detailed images, even in low-light conditions. Not only will you see the distance to your target in the display, but you'll also see hold-over information. Just match the monocular's BIS with your load's trajectory by choosing one of the included ballistic programs. Pressing the measurement button activates the illuminated reticle. Release the button to display range to target in yards or meters. You'll be impressed by the brightness and clarity of the LED display compared with standard LCDs used on other rangefinders. The comfortable eyecups have click stops. An integrated diopter adjustment tailors viewing to your eyes. Scan mode delivers multiple ranges quickly. Durable rubber armor reduces noise and absorbs shock. Waterproof to 1 meter for 5 minutes. Power is supplied by a CR-2 lithium battery.

Awesome

I have an older nikon 800 rangefinder that has been very good. This Zeiss PRF is hands down the clearest pair I've ever looked through. I ranged a small tree at 1421yrds. I can range telephone post at 978 yrds. That's only because I don't have a tripod or good rest to range farther. I love the fact you release the button to get your range and it is fast. The ballistic table's are accurate. I wish it had a table for my 204 or 220 swift though. The table's work for my .300 win mag, 25-06, .270 and .223. The faster one's don't really need a table but would be nice. I've read that these could be used for binocular's. They are so crystal clear I can see why. I didn't get them out real late at night but they will range past legal shooting light and before legal light. They would probably range in the brite moonlight. I'll try next full moon. These are a must. If you have to wait to save up money, I'd do it before buying any other brand. They don't have an inclinometer but I've heard stories of those not always being accurate at longer range's and I'm not bow hunting with this pair. Great Buy!!

So far, So good!
Date:
I purchased the Zeiss Victory PRF Rangefinder prior to the 2011 hunting season. I wanted a new rangefinder to replace my old Bushnell 1000, that, while performing adequately up to 500+ yards, was very bulky and heavy. So I chose the Zeiss and have not been disappointed. I used it to range antelope and mule deer in Wyoming this year up to 1109 yards. (The longest yardage I asked it to range) I have also used it while bow hunting in Kentucky, ranging distances as short as 14 yards.
I know others have complained that the diopter adjustment is quite loose, but I can live with it. I would suggest that Zeiss mold a couple of loops into the housing so a chest hugging harness can be attached to secure the rangefinder around your neck, making the unit readily available for use.
So far, it's been a great purchase! I highly recommend this unit.

Worth the money

I was looking for a good rangefinder to use for coyote hunting. I had been using a Leupold RX II for several years and was not pleased. It works fine for bowhunting but simply does not have the capacity to range anything over 400 yards. In cold temperatures it sometimes would not function at all and to boot the optics can best be described as cloudy. I decided to purchase a larger rangefinder to not only range long distance targets but to also replace my binoculars for coyote hunting. I got to the point that I was packing way to much gear and it was time to simplify. I liked the new Leica 1600 but it was too small to hold steady while glassing. I wanted something that could be held with two hands like a binocular. After my previous experience with Leupold rangefinders I wasn't about to go down that road again. (Sorry Leupold, you make a great riflescope but the rangefinders stink.) The optics in the Bushnell 1500 Elite weren't very clear so it was out too. That left me with the Zeiss or the Swarovski. I spent a lot of time in the store comparing the two rangefinders and each had its strong points. I liked the solid feel and wide field of view of the Swarovski unit. What I didn't like was the aiming circle and readout. In the store they appeared thick, fuzzy and hard to read. I also didn't like the feel of the ranging button. It was very difficult to hold steady while pressing the button. A definite problem while trying to range distant objects unless it's mounted on a tripod or supported against a solid object. And finally I didn't like the time it takes for the unit to warm up and return a reading. Seemed like it always took a few seconds before a range would be displayed even if I was ranging something within 50 yards. The Zeiss doesn't feel as solid as the Swarovski but it had enough other strong points that I felt it was the right unit for me. The optics are almost as clear as the Swarovski but the field of view is narrower. What I really like about the Zeiss is that readouts are almost instantaneous and the LCD is a sharp bright red and easy to read. I also like the fact that it "shoots" when the button is released rather than when it is pressed. This makes it easy to hold steady when ranging distant targets. At times I second guess my decision and think I should have got the Swarovski for the simple fact that I believe it will range small targets at long range better than the Zeiss. However, I have not compared the two side by side at long range. I'm making that assumption based on other reviews I have read. I can get readings on a coyote sized target out to about 500 yards. Anything the size of a car or larger to 1000 yards. Houses and canyon walls to 1500 yards. I was disappointed that it wouldn't range a lone coyote out in a wide open snowy field at 500+ yards but then I realized that is a pretty tall order. As long as there is a little sagebrush or other cover surrounding the coyote the unit has no problem at all picking them up out to 700+ yards. Last week it was able to range a call-shy coyote at 509 yards. I dialed the elevation into my scope and was shocked to see him tip over at the shot! I've never done that before! That's a situation where a high quality rangefinder is worth it's weight in gold. I was able to spot the distant critter in the fading light and then range him without having to move. Very convenient. It's no substitute for a binocular if you're planning on spending hours a day glassing but for coyote hunting it works great.

Zeiss Rangefinder

Just an outstanding product. I couldn't be happier. It is so much steadier with the release button ranging than others I have used. I was ranging building out to 1349 yards, and simply couldn't get any farther away to see just how far I could push it. Ranges very very fast. Worth every penny. I've always been a Leica guy, but I have to give it to Zeiss on this one.
