needs angle calculator
Date:
i used this on a sheep hunt and it is a really nice monocular and it is a really good rangefinder for giving you good straight line distances. but guess what? i couldn't get the sheep to cooperate! i know enough about angles and doing the math, but as good as swarovski is, they should really have an angle compensation program included.
i followed this hunt with a caribou hunt and when i pulled it out of my pack after being flown in, the push button was stuck and it wouldn't unstick. i sent it back for a refund, but haven't replaced it because swarovski has to make one with and angle compensation program soon, right?

Very Reliable LRF, Ok optics
Date:
I have been using this LRF for a few years now for deer hunting, and some rifle matches. The LRF is very reliable, and only bested by Vector products which are dramatically more expensive.
I rate the LRF at 5+ stars. It is fantastic and has never let me down even in extreme cold, rain, bright sun, and even the extreme cold of Saskatchewan and West Texas while hunting.
The 8x monocular is ok, but definitely requires a separate set of binoculars for comfortable extended observation.
In an effort to combine LRF and binos into one unit, I have also tried the Leica Geovids and the Zeiss LRF binos. Neither is anywhere close to this unit for reliable ranging.
Great product at a great price, and nice and compact - just take a pair of binos with you for extra comfort.

Best Tool For The Job
Date:
I just came off a 9 day high elevation backpack style elk hunt. Traveling long distances daily with 3-4 thousand foot elevation gains-losses. I wanted to cut weight and limit my optics. So I selected a single tool to serve as my optic and range finder. I did not find the compromise difficult to make given the overall performance of the Swarovski range finder optics. The clear image was enough to replace my high end european 8x30 binos I normally carry....and though not a 2 eyes solution, they did not stop me from spotting elk before my partner did withh is beautiful "2 eyed" high end european range finder competitor....and at 1/3 the weight! The right tool for the job. Only wish the response time on ranging was quicker..that would then earn a 5 star in ky book. Yes I do recommend these optics without reservation. Good glass......
