Perfect
Date:
This product is complete perfection for all my needs that I had in mind to use it for. My purpose for buying this product was to eliminate the case that my rangefinder originally came with and eliminate the noise or fumbling around that came with it for both hunting and the archery competitions that I shoot in that allow rangefinders. With the adhesive and strap I always know that my rangefinder is secure. I can trust that when I drop the rangefinder to draw and take the shot that it will retract right back to where it was in case I need to range for a follow up shot or reposition.
With all other systems I found myself looking away from my target or presenting alot of movement with trying to put it back in its case. The Sidewinder allows me to remain on target and take the shot when it needs to be taken. The other feature that makes it even better is the clip that it has on it to clip to your belt, or in my case, my pack. The clip has a simple to use lock on it that will secure it in place and insure it wont fall off like some of those cell phone pouchs and things of that nature. It's just a product that work for me. Definitly a fan.

great product
Date:
i bought this right before my late season elk hunt for my range finder. i took it into some really rough country and the back plate did brake but still held out threw the hunt and threw my late season deer hunt. after the hunt i called the company and told them it broke, with out question they sent out a replacement and the piece to fix the other one. great customer service and product, it was nice not having to fumble with the range finder after ranging the animal. even with the problem i had i highly recommend the product.

Good...NOT totally silent...Quiet enough for me
Date:
I purchased one of these as soon as they came out. The idea and the design behind the Sidewinder Evo really appealed to me as a spot and stalk bowhunter. I almost bought the original sidewinder last year but held out because the original Sidewinder was a bit too lound for me. S4 greatly improved the noise problems with the new Sidewinder Evo.
However, please understand that even the new Evo model is not totally silent and takes some getting used too. The cord has a tendency to come into contact with the plastic housing as you unwind it. When the cord does make contact it ofcourse makes some noise as it is pulled across the housing. I found that the noise can be minimized by adjusting the angle of the housing unit on the belt clip. The clip on the Evo has eight different positions that it can be attached at and is simple to adjust. Its just a matter of getting it adjusted to your usage. The process did take some time and patience. Also, even if the cord is not touching the side of the housing it will still make noise if you pull the range finder out quickly. I am somewhat leary of this but the limited noise is not a deal breaker for me. But it would probably be loud enough to spook a deer that was right on top of you.
For me, the product is still a must have because I do alot of walking during elk hunts and having my rangefinder accessible is a must. I used to hang it around my neck. That gets really uncomfortable and annoying plus the rangefinder got banged around a bit more than it should have hanging there. With the Evo I can hook it on my belt and it is securely out of the way, stays put, and is always there when I need it. The amount of noise is not a deal breaker for me.
But I would caution those who wish to use the product in situations where total silence is a must. I simply can't get the thing to be silent. Quiet enough to range landmarks in shooting lanes when an animal is outside of bow range, but if you're not ready and had to range the animal inside bow range it is loud enough to spook. In my opinion if the animal is already inside bow range and you haven't ranged your landmarks you shouldn't be bowhunting anyway. I would buy this product again and would recomend to others.
