Nikon Riflehunter 550 Rangefinder

  • Incline/decline elevation compensation
  • Waterproof and fogproof
  • 6X magnification
  • Range to 550 yards
Know exactly where to hold, even when the situation calls for a sharp-angled, long-range shot. Nikon's advanced ID technology compensates for incline or decline shooting angles, up to an incredible ±89° of angle (nearly vertical), and provides the equivalent horizontal range – the distance the bullet will actually travel. The hunter simply aims, pushes the button and plans the shot according to the displayed distance. It's waterproof, fogproof and offers 6X magnification and generous 18mm eye relief, great for eyeglass wearers. Fast and accurate ranging. With ID on, the unit reads in 1/5-yd. increments. With ID off, it reads in 1/2-yd. increments to 99.5 yds. and 1-yd. increments to 550 yds. CR-2 lithium battery and case included.
Color/Camo Pattern: Realtree MAX-1™, Brown.

Best in it's range and price.
Date:
I've used allot of rangefinders both for military operations and civilian hunting. For a mid range distance rangefinder the Nikon Riflehunter 550 is outstanding. While it does not give ballistic information that some other long range rangefinders do at no farther than 500 yards you should not need any. The Nikon is very, very accurate and beside hunting it is also great for urban tactical operations because of it's extreme accuracy.

The 550 is a great value and is simple to use right out of the box. I plan on getting more use out of it the upcoming season.

Better Range than Archery version
Date:
I've used this rangefinder for a little over a year now with no problems. I actually bought this for archery since it does everything the archery version does plus covers my rifle ranges to 500. If I remember correct the ARC system is only accurate to 100yds anyway. The only thing I would change would be to add an illuminated reticle. If you get to your location before good light it's hard to see the reticle to pre-range objects to estimate range later when game is present.

best in class
Date:
I decided to purchase a rangefinder after a near miss last september. I had a great shot on a 6 point bull during archery and didnt take it because i was unsure of the yardage. by the time i had the yardage figured i was left with my arrow in my hand feeling stupid. So i looked for the best $300 rangefinder on the market. I have heard very little on nikon rangefinders and almost didn't look at this rangefinder once i picked it up it functioned like i thought a rangefinder should quick distance acquisition every time on every target. ive ranged the trees behind my place at 520 deer at 330 and have never had a problem. my father in law was ready to throw his in the river after using my new favorite toy
