Fine in Alaska
Date:
I have been a Nikon man for some time now. My Binoculars, rifle scopes, and now my range finder are all Nikon. Have never had a problem with any of them.
I recently purchased this item and immediately took it out to "test" it from my front door. Scanned a building across the street and was able to slide up and down the slope of the roof. The Nikon Prostaff 550 Team Realtree range finder locked on, adjusted with my slide and provided immediate feedback about the range of my shot. Not cold enough yet to give it the full Alaskan treatment, but so far so good.

Nikon Rangefinder is AWESOME
Date:
Ok im am a Bushnell/Leupold guy. I have to say this rangefinder gets better reviews than any other in the price range. I bought it and couldnt be happier. Ranges start at 12 yards. Only used it out to about 150 yds. I use it for Bow and Gun and its great. Compact. Simple to use. And handy. Great product NIKON you have really blown me away.

Great Range Finder
Date:
For the money you can't go wrong with the Nikon 550. If you wanted to you could buy the Nikon 550 rifle hunter for roughly 80 dollars more. The difference is that the rifle hunter has ARC (this one doesn't) and the rifle hunter measures yards with .1 of a yard were as this one will read as .5 of a yard.
I really like the scan feature on this one. You can hold down the range button and scan over something in the distance. When you see a large jump in the range you know you have hit your intended target.
Great product can't go wrong!
