Good rangefinder
Date:
The archers choice max is a good quality rangefinder for the price. I have always gotten good accurate readings and the optics are ok. In low light the orange readout is too much however I have never had a problem getting a reading on the target. It is usually in very low light when a shot would be questionable anyway. The other issue I have with the archers choice max is the case it comes with. Mine broke right away. I am sure there are better rangefinders out there (at a much higher cost) but this is a good one for the price.

Do NOT buy this range finder
Date:
This range finder is a complete flop. When you need it most during low light it switches to orange and the entire field of view is washed out, you cannot see anything. Nikon let this one out to early and when I called them they didn't care in the least. It is much worse than a standard black readout model. A huge mistake - NEVER BUY THIS UNIT

Great Rangefinder
Date:
This is a really great rangefinder, it is accurate and does all the stuff archers need, like angular distance calculations etc. The new orange glow reticle is great in shadows.
Now, why no 5 stars? The orange reticle creates a problem when the light gets very low. The orange glow then blocks your view of the readings and the target. If they could tone this down just a bit this would be a perfect rangefinder.

Archer's Choice - good show, poor product.
Date:
The first time I used my rangefinder in the field I was shooting archery at 3D targets near the coast with four friends.
My new Archer's Choice MAX rangefinder would not work in the foggy conditions.
All four of us had rangefinders; two were different MFG and worked in the foggy conditions.
The other two Nikon Archer's Choice rangefinders, one standard ID (incline/decline) and my new MAX would not read/range correctly even with new batteries. The two Nikon Archer's Choice rangefinders would read 4 to 5 yards even when ranging out 40, 50, and 60 yards on this foggy / overcast day.
Also the battery chamber cover fits VERY loose. You can rotate cover just by putting light finger pressure against it, twist the quarter turn and it will pop off. Mine came loose and was lost before the day was 1/2 over. I would prefer a much tighter fit on a battery cover and the requirement of a tool (coin or key end) to remove any battery covers on my cameras, hunting gear etc.
I will give NIKON Archer's Choice rangefinders credit for their accuracy and clarity when it did work on the "clear, dry, sunny day" when I opened my birthday present and gave it the first test!
I'm returning my new NIKON Archer's Choice MAX rangefinder back to CABELA'S and I'm going back to "old dependable" the ******** yardage Pro. Ralph and Vickie love your show!
