fantastic product
Date:
i have owned several other rangefinders and have always been disappointed when trying to range anything over 500 yards, either I couldn't get a reading or it took a minute or two to finally get the reading.
The leica 1600 is immediate and ranges beyond 1600 yards (I have had several 1600-1800 yard reads in the week that I have owned it). It is simply too easy and too quick not to recommend this product to others.
Simply amazing! If you don't agree, exchange yours for a new one as you must have received a mis-manufactured product, that would be the only reason you were not satisfied with this product

Great Optics with Complementing Features
Date:
I am taking a hunting trip out west this year and wanted to purchase a range finder for my trip. Looked at several different range finders at Cabelas and none of them seemed to compare to the 1600.
Cabelas (Hamburg, PA) allowed me to take the unit outside to range and it outperformed the 1000 at 1,200 yards. I have not tested to see how well this rangefinder will work beyond 1,200 yards. However, that was not the main reason I purchased this unit.
The 1600 has many features that I will continue to enjoy. The integrated ballistics computer is very simple to setup for many different calibers. All you need to do is to select a one of ballistics curves off the chart they supply (there are two charts: one for 100 yard zero and one for 200 yard zero and each chart has twelve possible ballistic curves) and you are done. Obviously, this would not give you every plausible solution, but it should give you a very solid array for most calibers. Additionally, when you have the ballistics computer setup all you need to do is range your target and then select the main button again and it will to all the computing for your shot. If you need to shoot high it will display 9.7H for a shot that needs to be aimed 9.7\u201d high. This calculation is done instantly. I have not noticed any lag while using this feature. This is one of the main reasons I purchased this unit.
Certainly, the clarity of these optics are excellent. Some of the lower priced optics did not have the clarity. As well the 1600 has a 7X magnification, which is beneficial when ranging longer distances.
Very please with all the enhancement of this device and I am looking forward to using it more in PA and on my trip this year. Hope this review is helpful and safe hunting.

Great job Leica
Date:
Awesome rangefinder picked up a building side at 1730 yards. Easy to use and small and lightweight. I had the 1200 and loved it and this one is every bit as good and of course ranges further. It come set up as metric measurements and so I had to change it to standard but that is simple too.
Remember that at long distances you need a large reflective surface for it to range its not just going to range at 1600 yards guaranteed. It takes patience and a steady hand to get a range at that distance.
The information that it gives you for the temperature, pressure and angle all work great. I have not used the hold over feature because I use several different guns and I have another ballistics calculator that I use that goes further distances.
Love this rangefinder and can\u2019t wait to see what Leica comes up with next.

Not what you may think
Date:
Having several Leica products, one of them being the Leica CRF 1200, I automatically 'assumed' that the 1600 would range to 1600. WRONG. It does not seem to range any further than the 1200. It does indeed have the incline and the temperature which is very valuable. I just believed that it had a further range than its 1200 yard sibling. If it is worth an extra $200 to see the angle and the temperature, then this is the machine for you. Otherwise save yourself some bucks and get the 1200.
