radios--ok--rechargeable batteries junk
Date:
radios work fine with alkaline aa-batteries!
rechargeable batteries did not even last for one full day of hunting--which is the reason i chose radios with rechargeable batteries. i would rate the radios average RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES JUNK JUNK

This is my 4th Motorola radio purchase, and my 4th disappointment--you'd think I would have learned after the first three! (the first one I bought was a single unit- the rest were pairs). Only the first radio still works perfectly, but unfortunately is only .5 watt so range is ridiculously short- 200 yards or less. I will not buy ANYTHING from Motorola again. Before our elk hunt last fall, my friend and I tested my radios as well as his (a Midland which occasionally shrieked loudly when he keyed the mic) and only one unit of my last three pair worked consistently, so I took that hunting with me--supposedly, 25 mile range. At one point, i was trying to talk with him as he walked below me and 100 yards in front of me and he kept reporting back that he couldn't make out what i was saying- could hear me keying the mic but no sounds--so I sped up to catch up to him to where I was finally 40 yards in back of him and he still couldn't hear my transmission- so in frustration, I yelled, CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? And he finally stopped- had not heard me on the radio, but heard me yell. That tells it all: a tin can and string would have been more effective than these expensive, useless toys. I almost threw mine away in disgust but that would have been littering!
Save your money and look for a high-end radio like Kenwood or better. We ended up using cow elk calls to 'talk' back and forth occasionally to stay evenly spaced as we stalked an area a few hundred yards apart- worked better and farther range than the radios. All in all, a sad commentary on Motorola quality.

Horrible...
Date:
My friend and I bought two packs (Total of 4 Radios) and once we removed them from the box 1 radio did not work. So after spending over $200 on radios, I figured Motorola would be more than grateful to work with me... No. I have to send it back on my own dime and wait more than 2 weeks to receive the broken unit that didn't work in the first place!

Terrible reception. If you use them out West in the mountains don't expect these to work over a couple hundred yards in the trees. I can not understand why they have a 28 mile range, Even under the best conditions.
