eVOX application is junk!

The radio itself is a very good product and at a very good price. The headset is another story. It does not fit on your ear very good and the mic is not long enough. You literally have to yell into the mic to transmit, and for a stealthy coyote hunt that is not acceptable. The transmit button on the cord also did not work as it would cut me off 1 to 2 seconds into a transmission. I would look into a set of radios with better hands free accessories.

Good Sound

I really like these radios. They are easy to use and very clear compared to other brands I have tried. The headsets are awkward and they take 4 batteries not three like the description says. I plan on purchasing another set soon.

I have used these radios extensively in the western mountains on hunting trips as well as several family trips. They work really well in the mountains. I would say true range is 3-5miles depending on terrain. They are much more clear and work way better than my older Motorola's.
I would not recommend paying the extra $ for the more expensive Midlands that come with all the chargers and accys. I Highly recommend buying these 991's and just having extra batteries on hand. Using good Duracel's in these will last for 3-5 days of normal feild use.
I just purchased my second set of these radios and I love them. A great product! Thanks Cabelas
