These headsets are great for hunting when used in combination with the whisper function that many of the midland radios have. The sound quality is great and the mic picks up your voice way better than I expected.

Best Hunting Headset By A Long Shot

Regardless of some of the prior reviews stating that this "security" headset was not a good choice for hunting - I purchased it anyway to replace the standard boom-mic headset that comes with the Midland radio (side note - the Midland boom mic headset that comes standard with Midland radios is the worst headset I have ever used in more than 20 years of using field radios while hunting!). Buying this security headset was the best decision I have ever made in choosing a radio headset!
The sound quality was absolutely excellent, and the transmissions were clear and clean on the other end. Additionally, the ear plug does NOT block all sounds out if the ear with the earplug in it. I easily heard the big buck when it walked in behind me on the side where I was wearing the earpiece. That buck is now at the taxidermist.
The Midland security headset fits comfortably and securely, allowed easy and quiet movement of the head while scanning the woods or getting down on a gunstock prior to shooting. The coiled transparent hearing tube allows great flexibility while never getting caught on any clothing or jacket collars or even on my hooded sweatshirt. The clamps on both the wire and on the PTT mic worked like a charm, holding the headset securely out of the way but close enought for instant use, and I never had any problems catching wires on guns or other gear. The wires are also longer than most other headsets, allowing me to just stuff the radio into a cargo pocket on the side of my pants.
Several of my buddies are ordering these after seeing how well they work, and trying mine - this is a great item!

Perfect for security

These headsets work perfect every night we need to use them. The earpiece fits deep into your ear so that you can still hear transmissions above the sound of background noise, such as music or loud talking. The mic has a little trouble picking up the voice from the sternum area, so we just speak a little closer to the mic, as needed.
All-in-all a great product. I ordered 4 last month and am getting ready to order 4 more (for my other employees, not as replacements) today!

Very happy with these headsets, use them for running coyotes with hounds. Talk on radios alot and I'm very happy with them.
