The AVPH1 Helmet Mic allows you to use your two-way radio with any open-face helmet. Simply mount
speakers inside helmet and mount the PTT on handlebar using included wiring harness with dual-pin
connector.
Ear pieces fit comfortably in helmet and boom mic is adjustable. Good value for the money. For best performance radio should be mounted on handle bars for dirt bike or ATV. If kept in say a shirt pocket reception isn't as good due to body blocking signal from rear. Also at higher speeds with my open face helmet there gets to be wind noise that interfers with hearing.
My wife and I use this product for commo while riding our ATVs. We have tried several other such set-ups (including throat mics) and this one provides by far the best quality sound of any that we've used. I have difficulty hearing, especially in noisy environments, yet the spkrs and mic. in this product allow we to understand quite well. The push to talk switch mounts conveniently on the handle bars of the quads allowing both hands for steering control even while talking. I was so impressed with the set-up that I ordered a second pair for back up just in case something happens to one of the original, or Midland decides to discontinue them.
Needed to stay in touch with my 10 year old on an ATV trip. I would expect any parent to use this system when using ATV's/motorcycles with minors. I talked her through streams, mud puddles, dunes and blind curves. I felt very secure and probably prevented an accident or two. I also purchased the Bubba pack with a total of 4 walkies. We lost contact with our two other parties (without the mike/headset) who stopped, pulled out their walkies and called us to find our selves again. I will buy additional batteries for our next trip. This is not too much money to spend. I was truly relaxed as I rode around with my daughter.
