I tested this tiny radio against its predecessor Grundig Mini 300 and it was decidedly a step down in performance. The band and lock switches are hard to move, almost painful to the finger. The tuning knob changes the frequency way too fast, which makes it hard to tune in precisely, a finer tuning is necessary. The sound quality is dismal compared to that of of the Mini 300 which was barely acceptable. The advances short wave technology has made over the last twenty years in tuning stability are totally absent. A short answer to the question: Is Max Grundig's legendary dream dead? is "Yes, it is!" In summary: Do not buy this cute little radio unless you want another useless gadget sitting in a drawer.
I like to listen to am and the station is difficult but the digital dial allows me to know I am in the right spot and need to put the radio somewhere. THis thing is really light and recomend to anyone who would rather listen to live radio to canned ipods. Belt loop carry case with headpones work good with strong stations( not practical if you need the antennae).
