Don't buy this radio
Date:
I excitedly received this radio as a gift last Christmas and I have been very disapointed. This radio is a piece of junk, is poorly made, and has not held up at all. Don't waste your money. The manual states the internal batteries should charge with the solar cell if left in direct sunlight for 8 hours. I left mine for almost 10 hrs (during the summer) and it barely had 30 min of continuous power. It doesnt even come with a power cord. The crank aux. power does not work either. Gives maybe 10 minutes of power with 3 minutes of cranking. The knobs are very sensitive and are easily turned when you dont want them to. Reception is horrible even with a fully extended antenna. The S.A.M.E. weather on this radio does not work well either. I find the radio very complicated to program for weather, presets (that dont stay anyway), etc. Save your money and purchase another radio.

Eton FR600

Save your money. This is a great idea but the product is poorly manufactured. Bought this to use in our camp in Maine as we have no power and batteries do not always work in extreme low temperatures. We got this for Christmas and went to camp day after taking this with us. As luck would have it we encountered a storm upon arriving and wanted to monitor expected conditions. Radio worked perfectly save for one problem. After using dynamo about four times the retainer on crank handle either broke or wore away rendering useless without new batteries, BTW we did not abuse it or force it, cheap plastic where it should be metal or something of equal strength. We were in middle of a full blown blizzard and no way to get fresh batteries. We access same by snowmobile in winter and weather was around 10 degrees with 40 mph winds and white out conditions. So much for an emergency radio.
Returned same to Cabela's and was graciously accepted. Thank you Cabela's.
