    Good gun for the price, could be a good pass me down starter gun for your kid although they tend to kick like a mule. Maybe try a recoil pad with it.

    870 Express Mag

    I have an 870 express mag in 12 gauge and all i have to say is its been through its share of torture tests and I've never had a problem. People complain about the stocks and yes they are cheap so i decided to throw the remington sure shot stock on and that thing can take a beating. I also had it drilled and tapped for scope mounts ( which is why it got 4 stars because it didnt come from the factory like that). I also had a timney trigger fix installed and now with the rifled barrel and 3 inch coppersolids I can touch slug holes at 100 yards. So yes I did put a little money into this gun but just about every gun you have to put money into so without a doubt an 870 is the way to go.

    Camo Combo

    Purchased the camo combo with field barrel and cantilever barrel. (no longer offered) Hunted squirrels, doves and busted clays with the field barrel and did not have any issues. I added the Cabela's Slugger EXT scope to the cantilever rifled barrel and had 3 shots touching at 50 yards and 3 inch groups at 100 yards shooting Remington Buckhammers. Not the most expensive ammo and you will not enjoy your range time(hammers the shoulder), but dropped a doe at 60 yards no problem. Can't wait until spring time to go out after turkey.

    U get what you pay for...

    You cannot put this gun in the same ball park as a Benelli... While it is a good deal for a "newbe" perhaps, the internals are flimsy and a pain the butt to reassemble after cleaning. I've had it jam on me. Fortunately I was just target practicing with it. Not the kind of thing you want to happen when you're facing an angry bull moose or black bear. Money better spent on a Browning or Benelli. Remington quality is NOT what it used to be.
