I put two bags of lead shot on this baby and shot and shot and shot a new Winchester Model 70 in .300 Winchester Magnum and never felt a recoil punch. I'm talking a box or two per sighting/practice session maybe every other day for 10 days. I was fine-tuning the rifle and wanted to get in as much bench time as possible. It doesn't say "new and improved," but it should. With other models, you had to take your rifle off the front rest to raise or lower it. Now, you loosen a T-handle and make fine adjustments as you look down the scope. The bottom feet are also adjustable for height, and a bubble level makes sure you're on even keel. Padded rests fore and aft protectively cradled the rifle. Without this heavy-duty rest absorbing the recoil, I would have been a flinching, twitchy, gun-shy mess. By taking felt recoil out of the equation, I could concentrate on trigger pull, breathing, sight picture and all the other details of shooting. Plus, by providing a sturdy foundation, it helps take out potential operator error by holding the rifle rock steady. I'm overly picky when sighting in and look for every advantage.
