When you have to do a double-take of the mallard decoy you just threw on the water because you think it's a real duck, you're looking at something special.
That's what I found myself doing repeatedly the first morning I hunted over Cabela's new Real Image® mallard decoys. Molded from original carvings by nine-time world champion carver Pat Godin, these decoys have incredibly realistic feather details and a paint job to match. The true-to-life iridescence on the drake mallard heads has to be seen to be believed.
The beauty of the Real-Image decoys is more than skin deep, however. They also sport practical features like long-lasting, high-density polyethylene bodies, keels weighted for perfect flotation and both low and upright swiveling head positions on the drakes. Based on my experience with them, these decoys should provide the features, realism and durability modern duck hunters demand.
The drake mallard is 17-3/4" long by 7-1/4" wide. Hen mallard is 15-1/2" long by 7" wide. A box of one dozen mallards includes eight drakes (four with low heads, four with upright heads) and four hens. Real-Image bluebill decoys are also available.
