A fish's bloodline can ruin anyone's appetite for fresh fish. My wife once ate a fish with a strong bloodline and will not eat fish today! In fact any blood is capable of contaminating the flesh of a fish which actually ruins its taste.
Besides removing the bloodline from the filet, I will also take my filet knife and cut the fish just behind the gills, while still in the water. The heart of the fish will pump the blood out into the water. When you clean your catch, you will notice how snowy white the filets are! This is definitely the first step in creating your favorite fish dinner!
