If you're into fly-fishing, Cabela's Gore-Tex® Wading Jacket is made with you in mind. This jacket has been specifically designed for the fly-fishing enthusiast. It is built with the quality you demand, constructed of a rugged nylon mini ripstop shell laminated to a Gore-Tex® membrane, giving you dependable, waterproof, breathable performance.
It happens. You have the weekend free; the fish are biting, but Mother Nature doesn't cooperate. Cabela's Gore-Tex® Wading Jacket is perfect for this, and it comes in handy when sudden showers come up or the wind kicks in. This jacket is full of features that allow you to seal out the weather and concentrate on the fishing that you came for. The hood is a three-panel design with a unique double drawstring. This allows you to "batten down the hatches" when needed and to conform the hood perfectly to virtually any head size - with or without a hat. The half-glove neoprene cuffs on this jacket are also an innovative design. Combined with the Velcro® adjustment, they are the key to sealing out water. These half-gloves are also handy to add some warmth to your hands on those brisk days. Dual drawstrings at the waist and a Velcro® double storm flap complete the package, keeping out the cold, wind, and rain and keeping your mind on the fish.
If the weather takes a turn for the better, this lightweight jacket vents easily and the breathable Gore-Tex® membrane keeps you from getting overheated when the sun peeks through. When the weather is nice, but the wind is enough to make a jacket necessary, the shell is perfect for breaking the wind and keeping you comfortable. If it gets too warm, the jacket is also very packable, allowing it to be stored in a small gear bag.
Most fly fishermen are sure to have plenty of gadgets, gear, and flies that they like to have at the ready. With other jackets, your existing vest and gear are simply covered up, and to access them, you have to unzip the jacket. However, with the Cabela's Gore-Tex® Wading Jacket, they have designed handy zippered entries beneath the storm flap so you can get to your vest without letting in the weather. Also, two large, waterproof pockets are included on the front with a Velcro® storm flap. These pockets are just the right size for your flyboxes and the numerous other items that you have accumulated. Additional D-rings on the front and back of the jacket allow you to keep accessories, such as pliers and leader straighteners, at the ready.
Overall, I think the Cabela's Gore-Tex® Wading Jacket is an excellent value coupled with a quality product. I have worn the Cabela's Gore-Tex® Wading Jacket and found that it has a very comfortable fit. This lightweight jacket is cut short for wading, yet loose through the arms and shoulders, designed not to interfere with your casting. Additionally, I think that the neoprene cuffs are a great feature. They keep water where it belongs, on the outside of the jacket, and you'll appreciate the warmth they offer for cold, wet hands.
The thing that shocked me the most about this jacket was the price. At $149.95, it cannot be matched. Usually, it is hard to find any Gore-Tex® jacket priced much under $200. The Cabela's Gore-Tex® Wading Jacket
combines quality construction and materials with specific design features geared to fly-fishing. They are able to put this all together and offer this jacket at a price starting under $150.
