One of my all time favorite, terminal saltwater fishing setups, is the "Fish Finder Rig". This fish finder rig is a deadly saltwater fishing tactic for finding a wide variety of saltwater game fish when they are located on or close to the bottom.
But in actuality, this setup can catch more and larger fish when all other fishing tactics fail. The fish finder rig is made up of a sinker, which is either threaded onto your terminal fishing line or attached to the line with a fish finder slide. The size of the sinker should allow your bait to drift slowly along the bottom. Next a round plastic bead is threaded on the line, and a barrel swivel is then tied to the tag end of your line.
The business end of the fish finder rig includes an eighteen-inch shock leader, which is tied to the remaining eye of the barrel swivel. The leader length, line test and material may vary, depending on the variety of game fish you target. Finally, your saltwater hook is tied to the tag end of the shock leader.
The fish finder rig is deadly for fishing live or dead baits right on the bottom. With this rig, your barbed bait is allowed to drift slowly along the bottom in search of feeding game fish. Once a fish is hooked, a second drop should be made to that same exact location.
