Cabela's PT+ Fly Rods

Cabela's communications manager, Joe Arterburn, right, and Brian McKnight, owner of Trout Tamers Guiding Service, were all smiles after Joe stuck and landed this chunky rainbow while swinging wet flies on Colorado's North Platte River in September.

Joe was fishing a new Cabela's PT+ fly rod, paired with a Cabela's SLA reel. And, because this was as much a work outing to shoot product videos for www.cabelas.com as it was a fishing trip, we asked Brian, who has fly-fished for trout from Alaska to Chile, to cast, fish and evaluate the rod. "Nice," he said after shooting a long first cast across a wide bend in the Platte. "For being so lightweight, this rod really loads well. And it puts the fly right where I want it. I like that."
The PT+ is built with a continuous curve profile, which places thin layers of additional graphite in specific locations up and down the black. This improves the transfer of energy from the rod to the line, eliminates flat spots or steps in the taper of the blank, and increases durability. The result is a rod that delivers a smooth, moderate action perfect for precise presentations of dry flies, yet has the backbone needed to make long casts and battle big fish.
Made in the United States of America.
