HATCHET LAKE, Saskatchewan I needed lightweight shoes, comfortable enough to stand up in a boat all day and waterproof to shed Saskatchewan rain and boat spray as we prowled Hatchet Lake. And, waterproof to shed water when I pushed the boat off the beach after shore lunch or stepped into shallow water to wash hands.
Someone told me to check out Cabela¿s new Adventure X4 Walking Shoes. What I found was the best of both worlds in adventure and walking shoes.
They fit right in to the hard-scrabble life of daily fishing, remaining comfortable through long days in and out of boats and standing on the casting deck for hours at a time; then fended off everything from persistent day-long rains to pesky brief showers. They kept my feet dry and, as a result, warm particularly during one particular day when we battled waves to cross Hatchet Lake to a northern pike hotspot with the lake battling back, throwing waves and spray at us in a non-stop battle of wills.
In short, they performed as promised and still looked good and were comfortable in the ticket line and walking airport concourses during the trip home.
