Cabela's Gore-Tex Pac-Lite Rainy River Parka and Pants
HATCHET LAKE, Saskatchewan – On the flight to Winnipeg, I was restricted to 70 pounds of luggage; the flight from Winnipeg to Hatchet Lake, 50 pounds. Flying out on a De Havilland Beaver from Hatchet Lake to a remote trophy lake, 15 pounds.

After rods, reels and fishing tackle, which adds up when you're gearing up for trophy northern pike and lake trout, with a shot of walleye and grayling on the side, that doesn't leave a heck of a lot for other gear.

First thing, after fishing gear, is rain wear. We landed in the rain and spent the next two days fishing in the rain. After flying this far to fish, we're going to fish.

What do you look for in rain gear? Everything Cabela's Pac-Lite Rainy River Rainwear offers. Tough, reliable Gore-Tex protection. Easy, super-compact packing in luggage and tackle bag. And light weight to meet travel demands. There's a time and place for heavier-duty rainwear, but this isn't it.

The Rainy River gear stood up to the morning-to-night, day-in-and-day-out test of Hatchet Lake, while allowing me to pack other essentials, like extra silver spoons. Yes, the weather cleared; yes, fish were biting, rain or shine; and, yes, I never left the dock without my rain gear.
