Dri-Release Legendary Tee

Author: Antone Oseka

Everyone, including me, has a drawer full of cotton tees. In fact, I have several drawers full of them. However, unlike some people, I have two drawers full of performance tees as well. In case you’re not familiar with them, performance tees are usually polyester and have a cotton- or silklike feel with better moisture-management properties than a traditional cotton tee.

So far, many of my performance tees have lost their luster over time. They shrank, snagged, pilled or stiffened up, losing that soft, cottony feel.
Not so with my Dri-Release Legendary Tees. I picked up my first one as soon as they came on the market. I wanted to try the poly/cotton blend instead of the straight polyester tees. I loved the new tee right away. I bought two more just a couple of days later. Then, I bought a fourth. So far, I have very few complaints. In fact, they’ve become my favorite shirts to wear - even to work.
I’ve washed all four of mine several times (like I said, I wear them a lot) and have yet to see the slightest hint of pilling. Their drying time is significantly faster than regular cotton, and their breathability rivals some of my more expensive, 100% polyester performance gear.
They’re not quite wrinkle-free, but I would definitely rate them as wrinkle-resistant. They’re very low maintenance, and the Freshguard™ antimicrobial treatment eliminates odor, so you can wear them on extended camping or hiking trips. With spring here and fishing season coming up, I’m sure they’ll see plenty of days out on the lake as well.
For a cotton blend, these shirts have excellent color retention. In fact, I wear the black one most often, and it has yet to show the fading you often see in normal black tees. On the other end of the spectrum, my white one has done an excellent job of resisting the underarm sweat stains that most white tees develop. However, the white shirt’s fabric is just a little too sheer for my taste.
While the lightweight fabric is good for warmer days, these tees also can pull double duty as layering pieces. For me, I wear a tee shirt under everything, all the time, including collared shirts and polos. With their low bulk, these shirts are perfect for that. The only thing to be aware of is that the sleeve length on the Legendary might run a little longer than your outer shirt’s sleeves, so you might want to roll them up a bit.
Like I said before, these shirts have become my favorite to wear. That’s a pretty strong endorsement coming from a performance-tee junkie like myself.
