Convert-a-Ball Cushioned Ball Mount

Author: Sean Sutherland

Trailers are hard on towing vehicles. The strain of starting and stopping on suspensions and drivetrains takes many miles off the life of automobiles, even those designed for it. Many sportsmen accept a jerky, rough ride as normal when towing.

Convert-a-Ball Cushioned Ball Mount
As a lifelong walleye angler and boating enthusiast, I lived with the bangs and bumps of normal towing for years. When I saw the Convert-a-Ball Cushioned Ball Mount for the first time several years ago, I must admit I was skeptical of its claims of reducing trailer strain on a towing vehicle. I crossed off the idea as "just another way for somebody to make money." Years later, when the purchase of a new boat and trailer with a different tongue height prompted me to find a new ball mount, the Cushioned Ball Mount caught my attention. I purchased it, still unconvinced of its effectiveness. After installing a 2" ball, I hooked up my boat for a fishing trip. I immediately realized something was missing on the trip to the boat ramp – jolts and jerks that had been noticeable only days before.
Now, as I pull my trailer across pothole-infested highways and washout-prone gravel roads, I am thankful for the smooth-gliding tow ensured by the Convert-a-Ball Cushioned Ball Mount. It works by utilizing the shock-absorbing quality of polyurethane. Two polyurethane blocks surround the retainer pinhole for a simple, effective design. It does not affect the operation of surge brakes, and will actually prevent the brake system from locking up on slow stops.
Class V-rated for 10,000-lb. maximum gross towing weight and a trailer tongue weight of up to 1,000 lbs., it will solidly tow nearly any boat or utility trailer.
The protection offered by this innovative ball mount extends beyond your towing vehicle’s suspension and drivetrain: reducing sudden jolts while driving at highway speeds may prevent dangerous steering overcorrection. Give yourself and your towing vehicle the gift of a smooth, jolt-free ride with the Convert-a-Ball Cushioned Ball Mount.
