After several back surgeries, lifting a lot of weight was a big concern for me. I wrestled with heavy steel ramps before, and I knew they were too much for this guy. But I didn't want to settle for a flimsy alternative either.
After some careful shopping, I settled on the Heavy-Duty Tri-Fold design form Cabela's. At only 28 lbs., these aluminum ramps were easy to handle and even easier to set up. The plastic-coated feet rest on your tailgate and the safety straps hook to your receiver hitch, pulling tight to ensure they stay put. After securing the straps, I easily loaded and unloaded my 650cc ATV, and the heavy-duty aluminum supported the load with no problem. The tri-fold design folds up to a 16-1/2" width that stores easy in the garage, or in the truck bed between the wheels of the ATV. The 69" length allows them to be stowed in short-bed pickups, but gives you plenty of length to keep the loading angle manageable. A slot for plywood inserts also allows for loading of snowmobiles and other equipment.
Loading an ATV in the truck was a cumbersome and sometimes tricky chore. Now, I can get out these ramps, unfold them, secure and load within minutes quickly getting on the road to using my ATV instead of spending time loading.
