Description: Marlin 1893 .30-30 Rifle. This old gun started life with the then state of the art Beech front sight, patented in 1891. Unfortunately, the hood was either broken or cut off leaving a two post flip up front sight. The rear sight is typical but appears to be a replacement. The full length mag tube has a severe dent in the left side 8" back from the muzzle. The 26" bore is medium dark, but the rifling looks good. The action is smooth and tight. The fore end appears to be original but the butt stock has either been replaced or had the stain sanded off of it. Based on the poor metal to wood fit, I would say it has been replaced. The stock has the crescent butt shape but no plate and the wood does not appear to have ever had a plate. One of the action pins has been replaced with a brass pin.
