The U.S. Navy replaced its Model 1860 cutlass, which had been in continuous service for over 57 years, with the 1917 Cutlass. Virtually an exact copy of an original, this sword features the signature 25" curved blade and a 1/2-basket guard stamped of heavy 18-gauge high-carbon steel. Both the 1055 carbon-steel blade and guard are blued to resist rusting. Carefully shaped hardwood handle is painted brown and secured to the tang by three heavy brass cutler’s rivets. Includes a leather scabbard. Imported. Blade length: 25". Overall length: 29-5/8". Weight: 33.7 oz.
