Description: The 40-82 Winchester Centerfire Cartridge was introduced as a black-powder cartridge in 1885. It made the transition to the smokeless powder era based on its ability to develop higher muzzle velocities than many of the other blackpowder cartridges of the time. The 40-82 garnered a favorable reputation on elk and moose and other big game. This Winchester 1886 has a fine brown patina as shown. The bore exhibits strong rifling.
