Description:

In the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's beginnings, they were looking for something that would draw people to their national banquets. Custom riflemaker John Bolliger, principal of Mountain Riflery, stepped to the plate and offered up some magnificent custom rifles, sure to attract erstwhile bidding at the banquets. This particular rifle was the third of Bolliger's contributions, auctioned at the 1988 RMEF national banquet. To say it is beautiful is completely unnecessary. All you need to do is look at the photographs to see that this is the work of a highly talented team of artists. A few highlights: gorgeous English walnut, shaped in flowing lines with impeccable fleur-de-lis checkering interspersed with ribbons; inletted island swivel studs in islands, widow's peak fore-end tip and steel buttplate; shadowline cheekpiece; jewelled bolt; skeleton grip cap; deep, rich blue; floorplate adorned with Ken Warren's elk scene and scroll in gold and silver, with Warren's work gracing the action, grip cap, buttplate, scope rings and barrel as well. Offered for sale on consignment from the original purchaser of this rifle.
