Description: This is a Colt model SAA Artillery "No Number" frame revolver in .45 Colt with a 5 1/2" barrel. The bluing shows wear on the left side of the barrel, frame, ejector and cylinder with a ring on the cylinder. The front sight has been filed. This firearm comes with a "letter of authentication" from John A. Kopec who disected and evaluated this firearm. The triggerguard is the only numbered piece of this firearm (9484) and was made in 1874. The patent date is a three date in two lines format. It is the opinion of the authenticator that this firearm was assembled by Francis Bannerman of New York and that the cylinder was initialed by Rinaldo A. Carr (RAC) and the loading gate is stamped with a "K" of Mr. A. Kind who was a Colt employee and that the grips are not original. Mr. Kopec believes that this is one of 6 "no-number" frame revolvers ever manufactured.
