Description: This rifle is a sporterized military Mauser 98 action with the work done post-war. The underside of the barrel is marked "I.O. Stone Co., 5-19-47, 8X57 Mauser." The rifle has a scope with a quick detach claw mount. The dovetail for the front claw mount is loose and the base can come out when the scope is removed. The Hensoldt Wetzlar Ziel Dialyt 5x scope has the European 3line/post reticle. The rear mount is marked "DRGM." The buttstock has a sling swivel but there is no front swivel on the rifle. There is what appears to be a double struck rune for the 2nd SS behind the trigger guard, though this was likely done post-war. There is a major stock repair. The bore is suprisingly good for a rifle of this vintage. The bore is bright and the rifling is strong.
