Description: A unique collaboration between German and Italian fine gun making. According to Famars factory, during late 1960s to late 1970s, Italian gun manufactures often used receivers from other firms, such as this Merkel sidelock ejectors. Famars began to produce their own receivers in 1975. This Merkel based Plutone Extra Lusso was manufactured in 1974. Receiver and barrels contain all Italian proofs. Engraving was done by Pietro Sabatti, an Italian master engraver from Val Trompia. At a glance, the pattern seems to be fauna scrolls. However, upon closer examinations, exquisite Neptune scenes with dragons and swords bearing maidens emerged. Extremely fine checkering appears to be at least 24 LPI. Previous owner's monograms are embedded on top of stock. Mechanical and metal conditions are in excellent plus condition. S-13 series Briley thin wall choke tubes was installed, adding versatility for the discriminating shooter who wants to enjoy this fine O/U afield.
