Description: Colt 1877 Lightning .38 Long Colt. This gun is Colt's first double action revolver, dubbed the "Lightning" by Colt distributors in .38 and the "Thunderer" in .41. Legend has it that both Billy "the Kid" Bonny and "Doc" Holiday preferred these model guns. This gun is in very nice shape, appears to be all original and matching and retains much of its original finish. The bore is bright with good rifling, and the action is tight and smooth. The grips show only very minor wear and are not broken. The muzzle shows holster wear. There are some dents on the front of the frame and serious plier scarring on the knob of the cylinder pin. The pin removes easily. This gun appears to have spent much of its life in the sock drawer.
