Description: Colt U.S. Army Model 1909 .45 Colt. This gun appears to be original. It has numerous scratches in the finish, possibly from clean up. This is, however, a gun made for sale to the U.S.Army, and may not have had the level of finish one would expect from a commercial model. Under close inspection, the finish shows no blued over pits of scratches that we could find. The finish appears to be over 85 %. This model was purchased to fight the Moros in the Philippines, and except for 150 that went to Springfield Armory, all of them went overseas to the Manila Armory. Many of these came home as the personal property of Army officers who purchased them from the Army after the issue of the 1911 .45 A.C.P.. While this gun works with the .45 Long Colt, the Army special ordered ammo with a slightly larger rim to work better in double action revolvers, something that was not necessary for the Single Action Army. The bore is bright with good rifling. The action is tight .
