Description: Colt mechanisn seem properly timed but, suffers from a broken hand spring, replaced cylinder shows faint markings.Provenance indicated by an old cloth tag attached to the pistol reading "TAKEN BY DAN FARRELL SHERIFF AFTER A GUN FIGHT WITH WELLS AT RANDOLPH, MINN.",. The other side of the tag reads, THIS GUN WAS TAKEN OFF OF POLK WELLS A BANDIT OF IOWA AND MISSOURI BY SHERIFF DAN FARRELL-SIDNEY IOWA". Includes several magazine articles and reprints concerning detailed accounts of the crimes and capture of the outlaw. Also, a copy of the 1907 autobiography "Life & Adventures of Polk Wells Written by Himself"..
