Description: L.C. Smith Field Grade Featherwieght (FW marked frame) 16 Gauge. 28" barrels choked I.C. (.008) & Mod. (.017) with tapered, matted, solid rib with brass intermediate & front beaded sights. The forcing cones in the 2 3/4" chambers have been extended for shooting modern shells. Stock measures: 14" LOP; 1 1/2" DAC & 2 5/8" DAH. What looks to be the original factory lacquer finish is in fairly good shape on the butt-stock, although there are a couple of small areas where the finish is worn. There are some usual small scratches and dings in the butt-stock, and the grip cap is chipped on the edge (see photo). The forend lacquer finish hasn't faired as well, it is nearly completely gone. There are also two repaired cracks in the forend. The first measures 3 1/4" and can be seen in the photo on the left side. The second repaired crack is harder to see in the photos. It is about 1/2" long at the tip on the right side of the forend. Oveall a decent old American shotgun. The bluing is in pretty good shape with some minor scratches here and there. As shown in the photos the cased finish has some fair to good remaining color. 1942 date of manufacture. Includes a letter from the L.C. Smith Collectors Association (see photo)
