It's hard to find an all-season tent that is able to accommodate a family or even a couple friends, and that's why we're offering our XPG™ Expedition 4-Season Tents in two-, four- and six-person models. Reinforced continuous pole sleeves rigidly hold a DAC 7001 T6 aluminum four-pole frame so these tents can stand up to heavy snowfall, violent wind, pounding rain and sleet. The tent bodies are constructed of rugged, 70-denier 190T taffeta nylon for seasons of service in the most demanding terrain and weather. We constructed the rain flies of polyester because it has superior UV resistance, and then treated them with a 1,500mm waterproof-rated coating to lock out the elements. The two doors on the flies have accompanying vestibules and dual two-way zips with snagproof cording for easy ventilation. Clear windows give you good visibility, and shrouded mesh vents allow air to move through the flies while keeping out moisture. Inside each tent, you'll find an organizer panel to keep your equipment and personal items off the ground. Highly visible reflective guy lines prevent trip-ups in low light. Tub-shaped floors afford maximum protection from the elements. Heavy-duty extruded-aluminum stakes are included. Heavy-duty YKK® zippers with snagproof zip cording are used throughout. Three sizes to choose from. Imported.

Tank of a Tent- Worth every pound & dollar, July 3, 2009
By noelj07 from Fort Collins, CO

"I live in Colorado and I'm always finding myself hunting in the wildest conditions. My elk and deer hunting spot is at tree line (10,500 ft) and the conditions up there change every hour. Last year, I had three different storms come through my hunting area in a three hour period. The first storm was a rain storm, second storm was snow, and the last storm was at sunset with blowing snow that lasted through the evening. There is no greater comfort in knowing that after all day of weather like that, to come down to a tent that can handle all of this!

I set up the tent myself and it only took 15-20 minutes. After reading all the reviews about how hard it was to setup I was a little leary on how it would be for me to set it up since I'm always out by myself. I'm not sure the guys on the other reviews have ever set up a tent before, but this wasn't a problem for me at all. Once the tent was set up, it never flinched in any condition that I've been in.

This tent has also been with me in Alaska Moose hunting and I wouldn't want any other tent. If you've been up to Alaska, you know that the conditions are pretty crazy and especially in the area that I was in (kenai) there wasn't a dry piece of ground anywhere. It was all marsh and the tent was litterally sitting in water. I'm not sure about you, but that was pretty much the craziest conditions I've been in and I was perfectly dry.

The tent is a little heavy at 9lbs, but being a 4 season tent, it's not bad. I just got back from backpacking this tent in from my elk hunting spot in Colorado (to scout) and again, with all of the snow runoff, there wasn't a dry piece of ground. The woods still had three feet of snow and the openings had a minimum of 1/2 inch of standing water from the snow runoff. The tent held up and kept me dry the whole time while scouting.

I really really like the two door access for this tent. It makes it nice so that you don't have to crawl over somebody to get outside in the middle of the night. On top of that, both doors have a vestibule that allows you to keep boots and small backpacks outside and still dry."

Very Nice Tent, June 1, 2009
    By vthompson from Huntington,WV.

"I purchased this tent after a lot of looking on the internet, and I have not been disappointed. It goes up easy I think, because my wife and I had it put up and staked down in less that 30 minutes. We get a little quicker every time that we use it.
The XPG is very nice and it has a lot of room plus, you can also stand up in it. I can see us using this tent for years to come."

XPG Expedition Tent, March 24, 2009
    By PaulfromPa from PA

"Have not camped with it as yet although did set it up and repacked ready for trip. Need to actually use it for a true application review. But as far as set up and pack up it was straight forward and not hard. Appears that it will handle snow but do not know how much. I really like the tether lines, have the confidence it will handle winds. Look forward to see how the external vents hold out driving rain."

It was my first time, March 11, 2009
    By 2bacamper from California

"I have made several purchases from the Cabela line and have been very pleased. This is the first product that I could not give 5 stars. The tent functioned very well for the first time. Seting up will become easier with time.. The nighttime temperature was near freezing and the next day winds in the area were around 40 mph, Tent is very stable and no breezes got in. I would have no problem recommending it to my friends.

If I’m paying this kind of money for a tent, there are some changes that could be made.

Things that would improve the product.

(1.) This is the first dome tent I have set up that you are not directed to stake out the floor first. It could be a problem with windy conditions and the erected tent just flying around the campsite.

(2.) The industry standard says a 10 X 10 tent is large enough for 6 friends. Well I’m not that friendly; I think three bodies would be quite enough. The two vestibules for equipment storage do make a lot more sleeping room.

(3.) I’m leery about those skinny little tent pegs. I have used them before and they aren’t that dependable, especially when the ground has a high percentage of sand.

(4.) I would suggest that the stake / pole sacks be made with either Hunters Orange or the bright yellow that is tent color. The flat gray is easy to lose in the ground cover.

(5.) “Take down instructions” should also be printed and include the fly. I tried to go in reverse order but that just didn’t work. When my tent arrived all of the doors and windows were closed, and that's the way it went up. But taking it down it would not deflate. The unplanned way I got it down; the wind blew it over.

(6.) Make available a ground cloth for the footprint, as the instructions recommend."

Awesome tent for the money, February 21, 2009
    By gcreed from Laverne, Ok

"We slept in this tent in 35 mph winds and it did not move or make a sound! The temp did not get below 18f, but we had no condensation and it was about 20 degrees warmer in the tent than the outside temp. The four man will sleep two adults with gear comfortably."

    4-season tent, February 10, 2009
    By Oktar from Corvallis, OR

"I like the bright yellow and some black colour combination. It very cool looking.

I haven't take the tent out and set it up yet. Therefore I don't know how good the tent is or how durable the fabric/aluminum materials are. I trust that the materials are of superior quality since the price was expensive even when it was on sale. Mostly, I bought it because it was shown with a full-cover rain fly that goes all the way to the ground, covering the tent completely. The full-cover is very important to me because western side of Oregon and Washington State rains a lot. It's a temperate rain forest region.

Eventhough I have not set it up to see yet. again, I place my trust in Cabelas products that I got the full-cover rain fly for my tent. The way it was shown on the picture. I hope I'm not wrong and Cabelas has not let me down.

I rate it as four stars because I seem satified by it for now. And if the rain fly is what I expected it to be, full-cover and not having gaps along the bottom of the tent, once it is set up. Then it would be rated as five stars."

    Cabela's XPG Expedition 4-Season Tent, February 9, 2009
By LVcamper17 from Las Vegas, NV

"I camp year-round as part of my job and this is a great tent if you are going to be camping for a several days or more. For over-nighters, it is bulky and seemingly impossible to put up without two people. The interior is roomy and provides ample space for gear (in the vestubile) and for sleeping multiple people. I would recommend this tent for longer trips, but stick to the quick-pitch tents for over-nighters and short forays."

    Solid tent, February 9, 2009
    By Mexsurfer from San Diego

"I bought this tent knowing the windy conditions of Baja's beaches. We had 20-30 mph winds with stronger gusts which broke poles in other peoples tents. My tent was solid even without the guy lines tied on each side. The fly tightened down was strong enough, but nice to know the guy lines could be used for extreme conditions. Only fine dust blew in through the top vents which were open. Didn't get to use it in rain, but think it would handle well. Well built and easy to set up and break down."

field use with horses, February 5, 2009
By hardcase001 from pine buffs, wy.

    "1- need different colors
2- need a window on all four sides
3- make back vestibule like front
4- bring vestibules down to ground level
5- a few more pockets and florescent tie down strings
I rode my 2 horses out from broken bow ne. to cheyenne, wy.
I bought a orange exp 2 man tent and it stood up to 60 plus winds without the guide lines down. its light and it delivers what it advertises and now am getting a bigger 6 man version for now i have another person joining me and 2 more horses. The vestibules are great for storing the horse smelly stuff so its not in the tent with you. I will certainly try never to go camping without an exp tent from now on. As i said, ad those features and then leave it alone. Someone finally made a good tent. But ca'nt help but wonder how they will mess it up or maybe they'll just quit making it. That would be my luck !!!

p.s. will leave pinebluffs, wy. in the spring & ride up through the black hills then over to jackson hole,wy. then maybe down to southern utah if everything goes well. bye!!!"

    Well-made Tent!!, January 27, 2009
    By Anonymous Reviewer from Colorado

"This past weekend we used 3 new XPG Expedition 4-Season Tents from Cabela's at our scout district's Klondike Winter Camp up in the Colorado Rockies. It snowed and the wind blew fiercely during the night. Our 3 tents stood the test and held firmly. I felt adequately insulated from the cold. They were well worth what we paid for them. Thanks!"

Excellent quality and value, January 20, 2009
    By ChrisfromPennsylvania from Masontown, Pa

"I had purchased the two man and gave it a dry run in my living room. Two sleeping pads were right next to each other without any room to spare. I looked at the four man and justified the extra 3 pounds or so in return for so much more room. It was just the right size for 2 full sized sleeping mats plus a small amount of gear without being on top of one another. Its first trip was a 3 night trip into the mountains of West Virginia for late bear season. The first night was 18 degrees, followed by 25, then by 50 degrees for low temps. With all vents closed and 18 degrees, there was no condensation and it held up great! Very rugged design. The four pole construction held up well to the whipping winds. Very quiet with the rain fly installed and staked down.
I would absolutely recommend this tent, even for hiking in. The comfort is well worth the extra weight. I intend to buy the floor protector just to protect my investment."

HIGH COUNTRY ELK, January 15, 2009
By dcfisherod from Orange County, California

"Have used this tent (2 man) for two years on high country, backpack elk hunts in Wyoming. Withstands high wind and snow without any problem. Comfortable even in zero temps with constant snow and wind at 10,600' elevation. Must keep ventilation open in the cold to avoid heavy freezing condensation from breath during zero temp conditions and I have found that a fleece hood/face mask does the trick to keep my face and head warm in those conditions. Great tent."

winter car camping, December 7, 2008
    By tolly from Littleton, CO

"I have only used the tent two nights so far. My biggest concern is learning to manage condensation. The first night only dropped to 25 degrees and I opened the roof vents all the way and had minimal condensation, the second night dropped to 3 degrees and I kept the vents mostly closed. Condensation was worse but that was to be expected. I will use some type of sleeping bag cover from now on. I bought the tent for winter car camping near a ski area and found the price attractive. It would be too heavy, in my mind for packing into the backcountry. For my intended use, this tent is a great value."

Great in Rain and cold, November 18, 2008
    By Seger27 from North Carolina

"Our first and only use (so far) of the 6 person XPG Expedition 4-Season Tent was a very good experience. It rained some one night and we were warm and dry. The next night was colder and it kept the heat in pretty good, but we also had a heater. I would suggest calling it a 3-season tent and a 4 person tent because we had 4 people and it left no room to spare and I can't imagine staying warm if it would have snowed. Overall...I really like the tent and it seems to be very well made and easy to put up and take down."

    Oh WoW!, October 8, 2008
    By SugarbearsTruckn

"A bit heavy for backpacking but if you know that Mother Nature has rain and cold weather in store for you it is well worth taking alone. On the tent's maiden trip I was bleesed with an awesome rainstorm. In the morning I had to wade out of my campsite through shin deep water.......tent.....dry as a sunny day. No leaks, no ground seepage, and best of all no condensation. On cold trips I can get up on 30degree mornins and it is noticeably warmer in my tent, without a heatsource. Oh so worth the money!!"
