When you're running and the terrain changes on you, you want to know that your shoes are going to take on the new terrain easily. Enter the X4 Trail Light with Multitrack II nonmarking outsoles that give you superior traction and durability. And just because they are durable doesn't mean they're not comfortable. X4 technology foam is strategically positioned in the heel and forefoot. As the heel strikes, the foam absorbs the shock while the foam in the forefoot assists in the rebound of the step process. The new athletic, anatomic EVA midsole combined with extra absorbing foam cushioning under the footbed provides additional shock absorption upon impact. A midfoot bridge adds greater stability for the arch and ankle while simultaneously reducing foot stress. The uppers are made of highly breathable mesh and TPR heel and toecaps for added protection. Between the mesh and moisture-wicking lining is a TPU foot frame to provide additional support across the foot.
Men's sizes: 8 to 14 D, EE widths. Half sizes to 12.
Colors: Gray, Black.

Pair number 5,
April 21, 2009
By TulyHunterfrom Pine Mtn. Ca
"I live at 6000 ft. and run on the mountain roads and trails. I do about 4 miles a day, these shoes keep my feet cool and pain free. I've owned shoes at twice the price and these are as comfortable and last as well. I also run in the concrete jungles of Los Angeles. and they hold up very well."

X4 running shoes,
March 25, 2009
By OlyJoefrom Olympia, WA
"HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING COMFORTABLE SHOES, I TRIED THE CABELA'S X4 RUNNING SHOES AND WAS AMAZED AT THE SUPPORT AND COMFORT. I'VE ALWAYS WORE A CERTAIN BRAND OF SHOE AS I'M ON MY FEET AT WORK 40 HRS A WEEK AND ON CONCRETE OR STEEL PLATE FLOORING. I DECIDED TO GIVE THIS SHOE A TRY AND AFTER I WORE OUT THE FIRST PAIR, WHICH I BOUGHT APPROX 6 MOS AGO, I ORDERED TWO MORE PAIR TO INSURE I'D BE ABLE TO HAVE THIS CALIBER OF COMFORT FOR A WHILE TO COME. PLEASE DON'T DISCONTINUE THIS MODEL. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!"

"Shoes are just OK, not excellant. They were heavier than expected and not as comfortable as my present pair of Nike's. Don't know how long they will last, but time will tell. For the price I guess that I am somewhat satisfied?!?"

Cabela's X4 Trail Light Running Shoes,
August 17, 2008
By SStephensfrom Benicia, California
"I like to try new running shoes from time-to-time, just to shake things up. I've used New Balance, Nike, Asics, and Spalding over the years, and I really like New Balance running shoes. But, in my opinion, I have found these to be comperable to mid-level New Balance running shoes. They are very comfortable on both trails and hard-surfaces. However, as I usually do with all my shoes, I have added Spentco cushions, making the impact on my feet and ankles much less painful. I run about a hundred miles a month, so my shoes are very important to me. And with the price being considerably less than the big name brands, these have been a pleasant suprise to me."

Seems pretty good, but......,
March 24, 2008
By CarlKfrom Kinderhook, NY
"I was looking for a good multi-purpose sneaker and thought this might be a good one to try. I ordered my normal size, 12 D, and they were pretty comfortable when I tried them on. Then I used them on my elliptical trainer and they made my feet hurt like heck. I thought that maybe they were just too narrow, so I ordered the EE's. Not quite as bad, but same effect. It sems that the outside edge of the sole has a thin piece of rigid rubber that sticks up. The really soft shoe upper allows that part of the sole to dig into the outside edeg of your foot.
If that problem could be alleviated, this would be a great sneaker because it is really light and breathable."
