"The griddle worked good for our subdivision memorial day breakfast, we cooked pancakes for about 130 people. The only complaint I have is with the protective coating they had on it for shipping. It was hard to get all the plastic wrap off. Also upon heating it for the first time, the griddle warped when it was heated on high, and the spot welds on the angle iron reinforcements under the griddle plate, broke loose at one end. Also one of the burner control nobs sticks on and I had to pull the nob off and turn the stem by hand to get it to shut off. The griddle top returned to flat after it cooled back down. Maybe you need to have better start up instructions, like heating on low or medium before going to the high setting,"

"Although the starter has never worked (pushed it in and it stayed in), the unit works great by lighting from the bottom with a long lighter. We've had "Fiestas" and seafood feasts so far and plan an oriental stir fry next. We love this unit and highly recommend it. They should work on improving the starter though."

Where's the Heat?,

"First of all, like many have said in earlier reviews, my base came damaged and had to return it. Kudos to Cabela's customer service for sending me one right away without any hassle!
I was initially impressed with the weight and quality of the griddle itself. The wheels are pretty beefy and lock well. The base is a little flimsy, especially the side tables but for the price I wasn't complaining!
Now for the disappointment! The burner knobs are "clunky" and do not always turn smoothly. The ignition button was useless, and had to light the grill manually with a stick lighter. O.K., I can deal with it. But the most disappointing part was the flame (or lack of I should say!). I took the grill along on a group camp out and tried to cook burgers the first night. I lit the grill and turn the burners all to their highest setting and let it get warm for at least 20-30 minutes before cooking. It took almost 20 minutes per side just to get 12, eight ounce burgers to medium rare! and they were not seared on the outside, just light brown. I thought, O.K., so it's not for burgers, but hopefully tomorrow morning the pancakes will turn out O.K.. That's the main reason for purchasing this grill anyway, pancakes!!! Well let me tell you I had almost the same results, pale, blonde pancakes that took almost 20 minutes to cook!
I'm a professional chef and own my own restaurant and I must say this is one of the most disappointing flat top grills I've ever experienced. Don't get me wrong, I NEVER expected it to compare to one of my professional grills, but come on! This was ridiculous! Oh and by the way, the grease catcher on this grill is a joke! One inch deep and 2 inches square? It can't hold much more than a quarter cup of liquid. Obviously the folks at Blackstone have never cooked bacon in their lives!"

"I found the four burner was more that enough. Takes a little getting used to after using a grill. I like the griddle better because it cooks not burns food. The only problem with it is the shelves that are on it a very flimsy. I got the larger one because it had two shelves. Kind of dissapointed in the way they are installed, no support to them. Other that that it works excellant."

"Good value for the size of the griddle. Grill stand and burners are sufficient and are easily assembled. Quality of griddle top is not what I would have expected. My order required 3 shipments of the griddle top due to poor quality. The first 2 tops had issues with the surface of the griddle including scratches and surface imperfections. The final griddle top still had some imperfections but gets the job done."

"I purchased this cook station after my hunting buddy brought one into camp last year and I "had to have it". I set it up on my deck next to my barbeque and feel like I have a full commercial kitchen outside. My wife questioned why I needed another camp cooking element but since I set it up she has been thoroughly enjoying all the different meals I am able to prepare as I experiment. The unit is totally heavy duty and should last for many years. It was a little difficult to remove the protective packaging on the grill but, once it was cleaned and seasoned it is a real joy to cook on."

"Awesome product, but plan ahead. I had to return all but the griddle because like it was damaged in shipment. Not that it is cheaply made, it just looked like the box with the base station in it was dropped on it's end from about 30 ft. up. (Other reviewers had mentioned similar experiences.) UPS could make money shipping these things if they didn't have to replace so many. The returns/replacement personnel were great, as were the people in the parts department, when I thought that I was missing something from the igniter system on the second one. No instructions, so I didn't have a parts list/diagram, but they immediatly sent out what was needed. The cast griddle top itself is good and heavy---must be 65lbs. Gets Hot, stays hot. The base is sturdy and nice looking. A great cook top."

"The Blackstone cook station is built great,super heavy duty.as a chef i have cooked on alot of flattops and this is right up there with the commercial grades. Easy to clean and with alot of cooking surface. The only problem I had was on assembelly the bottom bar that locks in the legs is too long and made it hard to do. It is also a little on the heavy side. But I would recommend highly. g.c."

"we've always used a commercial style grill like this one in the past but found it bulky and tempermental at best. Once we started using this grill we were grillin in the AM and grillin again at dinner time. Fabulous! Cooking everything at one time in the AM for breakfast is amazing! "really like the cooking center, very well made, performs well. used it for a church food court and was able to keep up the flow of hamburgers and hot dogs that were required. the only negative was the shipping container. there was shipping damage on the first unit Cabelas sent me. they need to beef up the packaging. they sent me a brand new unit right away to replace the damaged one, so i have no complaint there."

"The first one came in with the box torn up and the grill was heavily damaged. It had no packing inside the box to protect it during shipping. I made one phone call to Cabelas and presto, a new replacement was shipped and arrived a few days later. This one was packaged with lots of shipping packing and was well protected. Works like a charm. I cook for big crowds of folks on a regular basis. Works as good as the one in a commercial kitchen."

"I wold have rated this product a 5 if it were not for needing to have 3 attempts for delivery to get a product that was not damaged. Cabelas was great about sending out replacements and now between 3 grills was able to make one that was not damaged. The grill is outstanding and used it at camp recently. The griddle is great for cooking for small numbers or large. Excellent heat distribution and flexibility. Also added the grill top which makes a nice addition for a very large grill. In years past we would have many dirty skillets and pans. With this grill clean up was a snap. Everyone in camp loved it and many intend on purchasing same for other needs (NASCAR, family events, etc.). You will really love this product if you are used to cooking for large groups using small equipment."

"After delivery issues that had nothing to do with Cabela's, we finally have our griddle in hand. Watch out for savage UPS delivery guys! We have not had the opportunity to use this griddle as yet, but being in the catering business, we can tell you that it is a bargain at this price.
