"to fish with these reels you must have to be a pro. I've been using bait casters for 30 years and never had so many backlashes. You can't throw the lure hard or into the wind or you will be picking knots out big time. I'm going back to Diawa with magnetic braking systems from Cabela's."

"Set this one up properly and it`ll be one of the best performing reels on your boat! Pitching: 4-5 brake weights and adjust mech.brake so lure just begins to fall freely. Normal casting: 5-6 brake weights and adjust mech. brake so lure falls slowly from rod tip to ground. I prefer the perforated spool for all applications. Try it on a Fenwick Techna Ava 7ft rod!Palms great,light weight,smooth,casts far,super accurate,easy to clean.To list all the quality features would take too long!!!"

"I have a ton of baitcasters in the $20 to $180 range. I tried 2 of these when they 1st came out. Constant backlashes to the point of actually distracting me from where the target was because I am forced to focus on my thumb weight (they're the only reel this ever happened with). They have a sliding part that keeps the side plate locked or unlocked which slips when casting on both reels letting the side plate fall open- this is terrible engineering design. It looked like they replaced the slide lock with a screw this year. Overall, it left a very bad taste in my mouth for a reel in that price range."

"I usually us Pflueger Presidents or Supremes but I figured Id give this reel a try since I have had good luck with Okuma spinning reels. Right out tof the package this reel wasnt easy turn. I put some lube on the spool and had to loosen the button on the side that allows access to the spool. It has worked pretty well since then, although it does backlash easier than my other reels do. For the money Ill stick with the President."

"I purchased this reel a few weeks ago and have gone fishing a few times with it so far. as of now I love it. It is a great reel that is very smooth. It has a nice drag and is easy to cast. This is my first casting reel and I found it fairly easy to learn. I had a few birds nests at the beginning, but that is inevitable. I will write another review at the end of the summer and tell you if it is still performing well."

"First of all I am very adept at using a baitcaster. I seldom struggle with backlashes, even on windy days. This reel put me to the test. I had more backlashes on a fairly calm day than I care to remember. I really had to use my thumb. Finally got the hang of it, but when I switch from reel to reel I usually start this one with a bird's nest. The drag is also a problem. It does not tighten adequately. Won't buy nor recommend a second one."

"I bought this reel last year and I have to say it outperforms and outshines any reel I have ever had. There are many baitacasters I have owned over the years but NONE of them compare to this. Silky smooth, effortless performance, powerful and nearly silent gear systems. 11 BB's all perform to delivery strong, long casts with a variety of lure weights from low-weight balsas to large bass baits as well. The cast control features include quick access to the side-plate centrifugal brake system, and a offer multitude of control for any situation. The reel's all-aluminum frame is rugged beyond compare. I have had not one single issue with the reel and it has perfromed beyond expectations every single fishing trip. Comes with a spare spool too! Extra Tip: Use a little hot sauce on the gears and traditional oiol spots and this thing SINGS! Buy one and have it for life!"
