Rich-Mar Push Pole System, February 19, 2008
By OCadventures2 from Chesapeake Bay

"This push pole system has all the attachments you’ll need and is very sturdy. I only gave it 2 stars because it will not extend and retract all of the time. It will bind up and stay at only one length. Once I get home it takes 2 of us to finally get the pole apart. I then clean it and put it back together, works great. Once we go back out same thing. It is such a tight fit that any little bit of silt that gets between the metal where it slides binds it up. I will try to give it a light sanding; hopefully this works because if it’s not reliable, it’s useless.
All in all it would be a 5 star item if it didn’t bind up."

Rich-Mar Push Pole System, January 28, 2008
By dford from Port Orange, Fl.

"I used this shortly after buying it and it is a handy gadget, but . . . it fills with water and you have to make sure it's empty before bringing back aboard."

Push pole, January 16, 2008
By UncleMuddy from Southern Md

"I put this pole to work right after I got it. I push an 18" jon boat with it. Along with a pole I made with Rich-Mar head some 20 years ago, it is easier to push this size boat with 2 poles in shallow water than it is to try to row it or paddle it. I really like the duck decoy retriever on the pole. The only problem I have is the rubber cover on the end of the pole will slip off if you are not careful. I am gonna glue it or screw it on before I lose it."

push pole limitations, August 24, 2007
By TheSquid

"I purchased this push pole sometime ago and have used it almost exclusively for duck hunting with my Aquapod. Given it's length and collapsibility it is a good compromise push pole. The limitations are not fatal flaws and are just inherent to the design.
First, if you are using it when the temp is below freezing the pole will freeze in the collapsed position. You can thaw it out fairly quickly by soaking the pole underwater but then you fill it with water that will get all over you and in the boat where it will freeze.
Second, the pole's indexing pin is just a single spring and protrusion. Although I haven't had a problem with this system, the big reason may be because my boat is very light and goes over the top of vegetation easily. If your boat is heavier and you really psh on the pole with it in a slight bind you may have it suddenly slip. Two locking pins would solve this question.
Lastly, besides being heavy(somthing that can't be improved) the folding duck foot is noisy when poling. It's hard to be quiet when using that foot.
Overall it's a good compromise but I just purchased the 18' fiberglass pole to replace it and correct the drawbacks I've described."

This Push Pole is great!, August 9, 2007
By goshallow from Syracuse, NY

"The first day on the water with this pole proved its worth. It got us through some very shallow spots that allowed us to get to a few large mouths we would have otherwise missed. As well, the lure retriever did its deed and saved a great lure for us. We highly recomend this pole."

Variety of attachments provide versatility, November 27, 2006
By Ducknut2 from Eastern Shore, Maryland

"Very useful to have the interchangeable paddle, hard bottom and soft bottom attachments. The decoy retriever also is handy. Two weaknesses, which could be improved by simple design changes: (1) decrease the weight, and (2) place the push-botton release for changing the length of the pole closer to the end, so that one might adjust the length without having to have the wingspan of an albatross."

Push Pole, November 25, 2006
By DrumRunner from Concord, N.C.

"I purchased this item several month ago. So far it has saved me from having wet cold feet on several occasions as my skiff found its way to extremely shallow water. It also doubles as a paddle which allows me to carry one less item on the boat. Excellent choice for salt water insound fishing and for duck hunters. Recommended without a second thought."

"This is an excellant pole. Just what I was hopeing for. I have tried pvc, wood, glass and never felt solid or safe. This pole will extend and colapps to stoe in boat. Only problem is the sun gets it supper hot in the Fla days. I painted mine white and now it is cool to handle for pushing, docking, lure retreiver, weed handler,,, et al. Get it, u'll like it. Great Stick, November 20, 2006
By Bfrish from Texas Coast

"This is only the second of these I have owned The first lasted 11 years on the Texas Coast. Not much lasts 11 years on the Texas Coast. They have made a couple of improvements and it works great. Very economical but gets the job done when you need a shove out of a tight spot."
