great axe,
June 26, 2009
By cowboyd4from Clovis, NM
"I ordered the camp axe to have as general use hatchet for around the house and for use on camping and hunting trips. The only time I have used it so far was on a backpacking trip through the Great Smoky Mountains NP. The axe was light to carry and was excellent at chopping dead branches for firewood. I also really like the feel of the straight handle and the balance. I am looking forward to using it on more camping and hunting trips."

By TooRiskyfrom NW Washington State, BigFoot Researcher Cascades
"I bought the splitting ax/maul and not one regret...This is so light weight, yet delivers a good blow to split even the toughest of logs...It comes with a head protector that is also a storage mount for vehicle or home...nice and sharp right out of the box...AAA product from Gerber again."

Amazing axe,
May 30, 2009
By Dodgerbluefrom Los Angeles, CA
"I bought the Gerber camp axe a while back to take with me on camping trips and it has been great. Its compact size and light weight make it the perfect addition to your camping gear box. Not only does it look great, it works even better. The design of this axe makes it second to none as it cuts small pieces of wood with ease. I have enjoyed the camp axe so much that I recently purchased the splitting axe and have liked that one just as much. The Gerber axes are great and even have a lifetime warranty to put your mind at ease."

Gerber Outdoorsman Ax,
May 5, 2009
By jak15from Middlesex, VT
"This ax splits wood very well, the wedged sides add to the easy splitting. It was very sharp right from the package. The only problem was getting used to the light handle. After using it a few times I got used to it but it is much lighter than a wood handle."

Splitting Maul,
March 10, 2009
By JerseyBoyfrom CO
"I bought this on the advice of a friend and it really splits well. I have the traditional heavy splitting maul but rarely was pleased with it performance. This baby really works well, is lightweight and indestructable."

Can't beat this Ax!,
March 5, 2009
By chuckypants
"I bought the Sport Ax for frequent backpacking trips into camp sites. It packs easily, cuts wood like butter and can be brought back up to snuff very easily with a file on my leatherman. In fact its sharper than most of my knives."

By jtlisterfrom Maynardville, TN
"This axe is the best I have ever owned, it is light weight and super sharp. I have owned a lot of axes and broke a lot of handles but this one seems to be very durable and made of quality materials. If your in the market for a quality axe that will last for years I suggest you get a Gerber!"

Gerber Outdoorsman Axe,
September 29, 2008
By YooperRockmanfrom The Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
"It is the best axe I've ever swung. I tried it on on a tree that had fallen over an ORV trial. It went though the freshly fallen tree like butter. The edge didn't suffer a bit. I was very impressed."

Awesome,
August 21, 2008
By handlerfrom Alaska
"This is one of the best axes i ever used, i let a fellow musher use the ax and now they have one of their own. We only wish the handle was about 2 in shorter. The other axes in this category have too short of a handle and this one is a little to long"

Excellent Axe for Chopping!!,
August 2, 2008
By Axehead
"THis axe is great. It gets sharper the more it is used, and sliced into wood with less effort than other axes I have used. The only downfall is that the handle isn't a little longer, and that for splitting larger logs it isn't heavy enough. Otherwise, perfect weight and swing!!"

Very impressed with the Camp Axe,
July 1, 2008
By Boetiefrom Pupukea, Oahu - Hawaii
"I have a variety of machetes, tomahawks and axes that I use for throwing and general field work. I wanted a sharp light axe that I could carry into the forest with me. At fist glance I did not like the look of the hollow fibre glass handle, however, after the first few swings I became very impressed with the axe. I used the axe to clear small iron wood trees that were in my firing line around my hog feeder. The blade is very sharp and I was surprised that it has held its edge so well without any sharpening. Good buy."

Sport Axe -- Not for Tent Stakes,
June 25, 2008
By TravisNfrom Saint Paul, MN
"I wanted a tool I could use to split kindling, lop off branches and drive tent stakes. This is a light and well balanced piece but the head isn't designed with a flattened "hammerhead" opposite the blade. It is also light enough that it doesn't pack much of a punch when you do manage to connect squarely with a stake. The blade came sharp but it didn't take long for an energetic 12-year-old to have it dulled wailing on whatever camp wood we had laying around. To be fair to both the kid and the tool the blade never chipped and should be serviceable. The nylon sheath is a nice touch."
