really worth the money,
December 3, 2008

"My boyfriend and I kayak, so we have to worry about size and weight of anything we buy. This stove is compact, easy to operate, and even worked well on the beach in the wind. He loves that the fuel containers are reusable, so there is no waste. It cooks well, and you are able to really control heat. We were able to boil water quickly."

Very Good But Not Perfect,
February 16, 2008
By DukeHfrom Overland Park, KS
"I have been using ultra light backpacking stoves for 20 years and am very impressed with this unit. As with all MSR stoves, quality of contruction is excellent and ease of use is top tier. For example, this stove can be lit and fully controlled even with heavy gloves on - not true of every backpacking stove out there. I would give this stove 5 stars except for two issues I find frustrating. First, the flexible fuel hose is not as flexible as the hose on the MSR XGK. The result is that this stove does not pack as compactly as the XGK. The other issue for me is that this stove takes much longer to boil water than my XGK. I ran the two side by side using the same cokware, heat exchangers, and water volumes. In my simple test, the XGK brought water to a boil much more quickly than the Dragonfly. The packaging for the two stoves say that boil time would be nearly identical but that was not the case in my simple experiment. Of course, the huge positive with this stove is that you can actually control the flame which is not true with the XGK. Bottom line - if you only want to boil water, buy the XKG. If you want to do any type of cooking or frying, I think the Dragonfly is the best stove out there."

MSR Dragonfly,
November 7, 2007
By salmoslayerfrom Springfield, Oregon
"This is an excellent backpacking stove. It is relatively compact and lightweight. It is very stable and is easy to use. The best features are its stability and its wide range of cooking temperatures. The stove can simmer so as to avoid burning food or it can get extremely hot and boil water quickly.
The only drawback (minor) I can think of is that it is somewhat loud when in use."
