Snap Caps,
June 26, 2009
By neafisherman

"They are about 2" long instead of 2 3/4". They cycle pretty good in my 870. They will not cycle in a Benelli. Every modern Benelli has a rotary bolt head so it will not close. It also gets stuck. Its pretty good for any shotgun with a normal bolt but not one with a rotary bolt."

Great idea, poor design,
June 26, 2009
By Gunme

"I never write reviews, but right now I just happen to be online looking to buy some more snap caps for my 9mm guns, since these ones that I bought failed after about 50 shots. I have been using the aluminum ones from a-zoom for a while now but decided to these a try. They look great and load really well. The plastic round is very strong and clear, and you are able to see the spring inside that absorbs the impact from the firing pin. The idea is great but unfortunately it doesn't work for that long. I had shot them with my HK P30 and Springfield Emp. With both guns, around 50 to 100 rounds, the spring on the snap cap would collapse and then the false primer would get stuck deep inside. I would try to poke it out but gave up and simple threw them all away. This happened to all the snap cap that came in the package. These snap caps look great, loads very well, but failed to be useful for the very reason that I bought them in the first place. What a piece of junk. I should ask for my money back but figured it wasn't worth my time. Now I'm gonna go purchase the a-zoom, the one I had been using for all these years and would last for about 1000 dry fires."

Unlimited reloads!,

"I have reloaded them hundreds of times now, and aside from Glocks scoring the rim on the casings, they are still like new. Great for dry fire practice. If I could only suggest one thing to all manufacturers of these products... make them heavier to simulate the weight and feel of the real thing. Other than that, don't hesitate to buy them."

Not Action Proving Dummies,
May 4, 2009
By sagoldie
from Southeast Michigan
|
"I bought these for my wife to practice loading and firing multiple rounds with her home defense Mossberg pump shotgun but they were short, less than 2 1/2", so they were useful only for one shot at a time and firing pin protection.
For my intended purpose, I should have (and later did) purchase properly sized "Action Proving Dummy" rounds."

Good investment,
January 6, 2009
By TXOverUnder
|
"These are a good investment, especially if you own a double barreled gun. When you close the breech on a hammerless side by side or over/under shotgun, the hammers are cocked for the next shot. Leaving the gun cocked will keep the springs compressed during storage, which can shorten their life. It is never a good idea to pull the trigger on an empty gun, so throw a couple of these in the chambers and release the springs by pulling the trigger on a spring loaded snap cap. Simple solution, and they are much cheaper from Cabela's than through any other store I have researched."

Jammed in shotgun,
November 15, 2008
By Nerfy
from Springfield, VA
|
"I bought one pair of these snap caps in 20 ga. One of the two worked fine, but the second one jammed in the magazine tube of my brand new Mossberg 500 Super Bantam the first time I tried to feed it. I had to put a dowel down the tube from the other end and tap it loose with a hammer. The edge of the snap cap was chipped. Buy the aluminum ones instead."
