Does what it says it does,
December 30, 2008

"I'm a Police officer. When we go to the range we have to listen to commands from the instructor. These can be hard to hear if your on the far ends of the firing line with your "ears down". My Lieutenant let me borrow his Peltor headsets when I attended an advanced handgun skills class. The Peltors worked so good I found I didn't even have to take them off between rounds. I could hear people talking around me even while I was shooting. After shooting, I could leave them on while listening to the instructor explain the next technique and reloading magazines then go right back to shooting. I felt sorry for the guys that had to constantly fumble with regular ears and those cheap little foam things. One thing I have noticed having worn a pair that is "broken in" and a brand new pair. The backband on the brand new one will feel a little tight on your ears at first but it will relax some the more you use them. Take it from someone that is hard of hearing already. Protect your hearing! Do yourself a favor, spend a little extra and get a pair of these. You won't ever go back to regular ears."

Peltor Tactical 6 Hearing device with backband,

"I was shooting a lot with just regular earplugs and it got to the point where my ears were ringing for several hours after shooting. I got these ear muffs and everything got so much better. I could hear things I wouldn't normally be able to hear and then as soon as I fired my gun it sounded like it was being shot a couple hundred feet away. No more ringing. Now some people say that these ear muffs don't fit their head, well I have a small head and they fit perfectly. The tension provided by the back band is enough to keep them securely on my head but I can still wear a hat while shooting. Not to mention that they don't look quite as dorky as the ones with the over head bends. I would buy this again if I had to."

No Bargain,

"I bought 2 pair of these, and both failed. I pair is headed back to Peltor for the second time in as many months. The second set is now beginning to fail in the same way.
Add frustration and postage to the price you see to get a realistic price for these."

Excellent product,

"Good - excellent noise muffling, great amplification, excellent on the range as you can actually carry on a conversation.
Bad - battery change, you have to "pop" the ear cups out, not always an easy task but at least it does not require any tools."

Peltor Tactical 6 Hearing Device with Backband,

"The headphones are comfortable and work well, but are EXTREMELY fragile. Do not bump, drop, or so much breath on them wrong, or else they will malfunction and the hearing devices will start cutting out intermittently. When they work, they headphones are extremely nice, hearing conversations on the other side of the firing range :)"

DISAPPOINTED,
December 9, 2008

"I am range officer for the sporting shooters assosiation of Australia, I purched these about 12 months ago to use on the range so I could talk to people while running the range. They worked really well for about 9 months and then started to play up, there was squeeling and buzzing through them so I changed the battries (not hard to do), lasted one day. I've changed the battiers about 4 times since, now the right side will not work and the left side is really quiet. Admittedly they get used at least one day a week, but I thought they may last longer than this."

"Product received was defective--left earpiece didn't work. Returned it to store for easy replacement and now works just fine. I've had a lot of experience with peltor products and was surprised it was defective. Can't beat Cabelas or peltor."

"I have really enjoyed these muffs. I wore them on a prairie dog hunt in May for 4 days. Not only do they protect your hearing from the noise of the rifle, I can hear my buddies talking to me."

Headphones,

By kbjudge

"I teach Boy Scouts about safe gun handling...these allow me to talk to the boys and shoot without removing the headphones and the response when a gun is discharged is so fast there is no fear of damage to my ears. I have the type with a band behind my head so i can wear a hat and not have the band on top of my head."

Peltor Tactical 6 Hearing Device with Backband,
September 23, 2008
By NorthTejasGuy

"I had wanted so range "muffs" with sound for a while but couldn't justify the $100 - $300 price tags that usually went along with the item. I always wear hearing protection on the range or while hunting but have always hated the feeling of being "cut-off" because I couldn't hear what was going on around me (range commands, hunting buddies calling out incoming doves etc.) I have some Peltor hearing protector muffs with a built in radio that I use while running the mower/edger/weed whacker/blower and they work well.. Ambient noise is minimal and I can listen to commercials on the radio to keep me company while I sweat. Having this experience with Peltor persuaded me to go with these "muffs". Pros: They definitely dampen the report from a 12 guage. I just got back from a weekend dove shoot and they worked great for sound dampening, the built in mics for normal conversation and such work OK, not great but OK... Also these are advertised that they are hat friendly and that is true, I tried several hats with these and they all worked. Cons: Comfort, these phones are kept in place by a single band that runs along the back of your neck. In order to make a good sound proof seal they clamp pretty tightly, after about an hour to hour and a half I was pulling them off periodically to take the pressure off. As stated above the sound volume from the built in mics was ok... I ran them with the volume set to max to be able to hear what was going on..."

Peltor 6 W/ BackBand,

"I purposely chose the 'backband' to be able to wear the protectors with a wide brim hat. It works very well and find it to be comfortable on my ears. While it started out as being too tight, the band can be bent to become very convenient. After trying several 'over the head' models, this is the one I will use."

Great Ear savers,

By Bill07

"These hearing protectors work really well eliminating the concussion of shots at the same time allowing the shooter to hear normal conversations, especially when using a spotter. They are light weight and the back band doesn't get in the way of rifle stocks but allow the shooter to wear a hat."

Great investment,

"These are an excellent investment for your hearing. I have a 44 mag. pistol and found that I had to have some protection while hunting. I have not used them except while shooting skeet but from what I have worn them I think they are going to be great all around. I did notice that they pick up a windy sound but all things considered I can put up with that for keeping my hearing intact."

"THE MICROPHONES IN THIS HEADSET ALLOW YOU TO HEAR NORMAL SOUND AS IF YOU WEREN'T WEARING THEM. ESPECIALLY NICE WHEN WORN BY NOVICE SHOOTERS AS THEY ARE BETTER ABLE TO HEAR VERBAL INSTRUCTIONS. MY PAIR HAS THE BACK BAND SO I CAN WEAR THEM WITH MY COWBOY HAT. NICE!"
