Pyrodex® Powder – 4 lb.

Pyrodex® RS can be used in all calibers of percussion muzzleloading rifles and shotguns. It has a wide application of uses and is the most versatile powder in the Pyrodex® line. Like all grades of Pyrodex®, it burns cleaner and produces less fouling than black powder. RS compares to 2F black powder on a particle size basis.

Select is consisdered by many the most accurate powder available. Select is an enhancement of our RS grade of Pyrodex®. Using RS or 2F data in a volumetric measure, Select can significantly reduce group size. Wonderful news to the deer hunter is that Select performs well with sabots and conical bullets. Select has also become a favorite among many black powder cartridge shooters because of its exceptional consistency. For target use it is the "best of the best".

The principle use for Pyrodex® P is in all pistols and in smaller bore rifles, .45 caliber and down. P is also useful as a priming charge in guns which have a tortuous or fouled ignition channel or other ignition problems. Pyrodex® P compares to 3F black powder on a particle size basis.

Shipped regular UPS ground only. Four 1-lb. cans.
Available: RS (Rifle Shotgun), RS (Select) and P (Pistol).

Great black powder

I am very impressed with the effectiveness of this gunpowder. I bought the 4 lb pack of RS, to save a little money on the hazardous shipping fee. Great stuff.

One of the Best Sub's to Use!
Date:
I started with Pyrodex only because my town had a ban on real Black Powder and no availability in my new town since I've moved, but I like it and will continue to use it. Triple seven may have more oomph so you use less (also a problem) and burn cleaner, but Pyrodex gets the job done and measures the same as Black so there are no accidental over loads. It also makes a nice amount of billowy smoke. I used Pyrodex exclusively in SASS and will also use it in my new mortar. Cleanup is not that bad with hot soapy water.

Works great for me.
Date:
I have been using the Pyrodex FFFG for my ball and cap revolvers. Never a misfire with the Remington #10 primers. Works great. Much less residue then real black powder.
I have been using the Pyrodex FFG for my Kentucky rifle. Here missfires are a bit more common because the breach plug is to the side. After you load the powder you have to tilt the rifle to the side and try to get some powder into the plug for an increased chance of ignition.
Real black powder ignites easier and may be the better choice for tradition rifles. For revolvers pyrodex is best because the revolvers have more moving parts and have better chance of jamming up with the excess residue form real black powder.
