The pliers will not work on small split rings period. To much of a gap between the surface that splits the ring and the side of the jaws. Complete waste of money

This is a very poor quality product. I used it to change out about a dozen lures and it literally came apart and the spring fell out. I reassembled it and tried to continue to use it, but it kept falling apart. Ironically, I received a request to review this product on the very day that I returned it to Cabela's and received a credit on my card. The customer service was Great! the product was Junk!

I've used different pairs of these over the years and I'll tell ya, these things will drive you MAD! The straight prong is way too short for these things to function as split ring pliers. You can't grip the ring enough in order to split it open. It took me 15 minutes to change 2 treble hooks. Worthless. DO NOT BUY THESE! DO NOT SELL THESE!

Worst product ever purchased at Cabela's

Eager to replace a number of rusted hooks on saltwater plugs, I tore into the packaging around the Rapala split ring pliers only to discover immediately that the rivet holding the two parts together wouldn't stay put. I couldn't tell whether it was crummy design or merely shoddy assembly. Even after I later flattened the end of the rivet with a chisel and hammer, it still wouldn't stay together! The little plastic tensioning spring kept falling out each time the rivet fell out. It hardly mattered. Even when it was in place it was too weak to keep the pliers open. I have never before encountered any product at Cabela's quite so completely unusable.
