    With practice works well
    Date:
I have used yellow birds for over 10 years, mostly on small lakes speed trolling for walleye. They work well with most crankbaits. Buyers should know that you reel in the board with the fish, as you have to put something on your line 3 to 4 feet ahead of your bait for a stop to keep the board from knocking your fish off. I have trolled at speeds of less than 1 mph with jigs & leech, and up to about 4.2 mph with crankbaits. I have run up to 6 Yellow Birds at a time without tangles but you have to be on your toes! Make sure you have the osprey line clips so that you can adjust the tension. You may also want to replace the swivel snaps at the rear with something smaller depending on your needs. With a little practice you will do well with these.

    Yellow Birds

Not very impressed at all with the yellow birds. You get what you pay for! For pulling live bait, you have to troll just a little too fast too get the boards to plane out right, causing your baits to pick up quite a bit from your set individual depths. When you slow down considerably boards will draw to the back of boat and tangle with one another if speed is not picked up quickly. If you buy em', don't troll under 1 m.p.h.!

    yellow bird junk
    Date:
purchased 4 big birds for Michigan salmon fishing trip, spoiled whole trip. osprey releases that were gaurenteed not to release, would release with first wave , or would dive with roller waves. tried diff methods double line in front osprey stll released. use rubber band in hole then line and when fish hit would still release and board floted free. tried wiring back osprey with wire thu loops and when big salmon hit would rip wire thru loops. had tripple on with rough waves. lost 2 yellow birds and one of the fish. had to buy one good off shore planer board with tension release to see how good boards worked.
