I did add a Nylock nut on the bottom thread, and ground off the excess screw.
I use the "release" as a clip to hold on 12, and 16 ounce snap weights while trolling on lakes Erie, and Ontario for Walleye, trout, and Salmon, while using Fireline.
Even though Fireline is very slippery, and normal snaps will not hold the 16oz weight, these do a great (but a little pricey!) job.

I was ready to give up on in-line planer boards until I found this product.It holds your board in place until you release the tension GREAT PRODUCT.
